Comfort Inn Trenton

Friendly staff, a good range of breakfast options, and a great location. We stayed one night in an updated, clean ground-floor room, and everyone we spoke with was helpful and had a smile.

Two days into my five-day stay, I realized I’d been sleeping on sheets and a comforter with blood stains. I was too disgusted to think of taking photos. The woman at the front desk kindly came to change the sheets, but the other comforter looked dirty too, so I just settled for it. The floors had crumbs, and there was some sort of dirt left in the shower. Breakfast was decent, though. Comfort Inn should be replacing its sheets quarterly to keep them looking clean and the environment healthy. With all the money being spent there, finding things in that condition was unacceptable.

For three nights, terrible breakfast was the norm: rubbery omelets with sausage one day and bacon the next, and we waited half an hour for both the coffee and bacon to be refilled. The Inn was sold out, with just one person at the front desk handling practically everything. We asked for a room refresh on the second day of our four-day stay and said yes when asked. We left our towels on the floor, expecting replacements, but the room wasn’t cleaned. I’ve never before had to change the bed sheets myself or go to the lobby for towels. There was no apology. The desk clerk questioned me repeatedly about whether I’d requested service, and even after checking the reservation and seeing that I had, still didn’t apologize. Other reviews suggest this isn’t new. The place seemed badly understaffed. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke from the moment we walked in. It seemed like they were trying to cover it with the air conditioner, and the room was colder than a refrigerator. It was dirty and looked as if it hadn’t been updated in decades. There was pink mould around the bathroom sink, and the furniture was badly worn, with its finish coming off. The lobby looked modern and nice, but the rooms felt neglected. This was easily the worst hotel or inn I’ve stayed at, out of more than a hundred.

My fiancé and I had a relaxing night away. The room was comfortable, and every staff member we met was friendly and accommodating. We’d stay here again.
