I first started going to Montrose Inn for high tea in 2020. I missed it during the pandemic closure, was glad when it reopened, and since then have often booked tea with a colleague, along with a few private get-togethers with friends and colleagues. As of June 2024, the offerings have shifted a little: Cream Tea is now available weekly and High Tea monthly. My colleague and I book ahead for High Tea. In summer we sit on the wide front veranda, and when it’s cooler we enjoy the lovely interior. There’s also a Vintage Shop in the old garage. Montrose is well worth a visit and a tea, and I hear staying overnight is lovely too. The menu changes and is always great. I’ve been with a group and with just one friend, and we always enjoy the food, the space, and the wonderful hosts. The front porch is especially lovely for tea in good weather. With advance notice they’ve accommodated my allergies and friends’ food restrictions while keeping the presentation elegant and the food delicious. I’ve also seen them make outdoor tea work for a wheelchair user in good summer weather. They go the extra mile to make each guest’s experience feel special. I plan to go at least once a month.

The shaded veranda stayed cool even on the 32 degree day we visited, and the gardens were lovely. We went for afternoon tea and found the tea delicious and the service warm and welcoming. Afterward, the hosts kindly invited us to look around the house and gardens. We’ll definitely return.

The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the hosts gave us a personal tour with a bit of history. The innkeeper and hostess were wonderful, and we felt warmly welcomed. We had afternoon tea at Montrose Inn today, and the food was fabulous, well beyond what we expected. Compliments to the chef. We’ll be back to see it in the other seasons.

The owners made us feel very welcome and gave us what we needed, along with helpful information about the area. They also adjusted the delicious breakfast for our dietary restrictions. The house is gorgeous, with lots of interesting rooms to explore and enjoy. My girlfriend and I loved every part of our long weekend there. For the room price, it was well worth it, and I’d recommend Montrose Inn for a romantic getaway. I’ll return whenever I get the chance.

This charming old home was lovely, clean, and full of character. The owners were very friendly, and breakfast was really good. It’s close to Prince Edward County and its terrific wines, so I’d recommend staying here if you’re in the area. We look forward to another visit.
