Stoneburg Cove Resort

The cottages are lovely and close to the water. Parking is limited, and amenities are a bit of a drive away. The dock area could use some work, but it’s a great place overall.

The owner was nice when he came to collect payment and chatted with us about the property’s history. I enjoyed the trip mainly because of the people I was with, though I wouldn’t stay here again. The cottage we stayed in was Jerry, & Boyd & someone else.. Cottage. It had two full bathrooms and four double beds, and we were there for three nights and two days. Even at night, we could see cobwebs and spiders in every corner, on the door frames, and along the footboards. We vacuumed what we could, but it still felt dusty and all of us had allergies. The beds were lumpy and very creaky. You could hear footsteps, water moving, and voices throughout the cottage. We had to scrub the BBQ thoroughly before using it, and the old docks didn’t feel safe, so we stayed off them. Water pressure was weak, and very little water came through. The kitchen only had soap, dull knives, and cutlery. If you plan to cook, bring spices, oil, cutting boards, and sharp knives. Update: the owner clarified that the beds are queen size, and they’re right that expectations should match the budget. I expected too much, and maybe my cleanliness standards are too high for a cabin. Live and learn! :)

We loved our stay at Stoneburg Cove Resort and would happily come back. The owners were friendly and accommodating, and the local residents were wonderful. There’s a general store at the neighbouring resort where you should grab some ice cream. We booked two nights at the last minute, just a week before arriving. Since we came during the week, cottage #2, one of the newly renovated ones, was available, and the beach was quiet. Our dog was welcome too. The cottage was clean, comfortable, air conditioned, and had everything we needed, which mattered since it was over 30 degrees outside the whole time. The pool was clean, a nice temperature, and didn’t feel overly chlorinated. The resort is on a marina, so there isn’t a beach right by the cottage. For a small fee, you can take a five-minute water taxi with Dave, who’s a super cool guy, to a beach you can only reach by boat. It felt like paradise, with shallow, warm water that was great for kids. Since it was a weekday, it was quiet, and we let our dog off leash there. They also lend out canoes and kayaks for free, including kid-sized kayaks that my daughter loved.

We booked a cabin for the pike and walleye opener derby, but there was an issue with the small cabin, so the owners upgraded us to a three-bedroom one. It was clean, cozy, and spacious. The place was quiet, the owners were friendly, and they responded quickly to any problems. Thanks again. We’re looking forward to renting from you soon.
