For a longer stay, don’t expect housekeeping: no fresh towels, bed change or making, sweeping or vacuuming, or coffee for the machine. The free breakfast buffet looked pretty unappealing when we checked it out, with the eggs and sausage uncovered, though we didn’t try it. The front desk clerk was basically nowhere to be found. Pets are allowed on every floor, and you’ll hear a train around 5 a.m. daily since the property is about 100 feet from the tracks. Check-in went smoothly, and an overnight stay should be fine. We were here in 20-4 when it was new, but now the place needs a full facelift, from noisy appliances to peeling wallpaper. Would we return? Probably not. Try the Days in down the road. It costs a bit more, but…

I spent several weeks here in the spring while working around Redwater and was impressed. I was on day shifts then, from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., so I couldn’t tell that the “free breakfast” was terrible; it was only available after I’d left for work. Coming back in the fall was a complete change for the worse. The room had a queen mattress on the floor, a stained bathmat, and a shower curtain that looked melted in the dryer. There were dried, dirty dishes in the dishwasher, so I washed them by hand, ran them through the machine, and put them away. Breakfast was dried-out brick-like muffins, room-temperature carton egg omelets, and stale bread. I told the front desk at check-in that I worked nights. My turnaround schedule changed, so I booked another night, then got woken at 11 a.m. by the front desk saying I had to move because they’d double-booked the room for someone who wasn’t even at the hotel yet. I packed everything and left a day early. I found a much cleaner, better-kept room at a Hotel in Fort Saskatchewan, and won’t stay here again for work. I’ll stay in Fort Sask and pay extra for the comfort, and for the clearly advertised courtesy of not waking me during the day when I’m working 12.5-hour night shifts at industrial sites nearby. Avoid the Paradise Inn Hotel in Redwater if you work nights and need your sleep to be rested and fit for duty.

The room was clean, quiet, and well stocked, with great pillows, good blackout blinds and curtains, and a bathtub, which I was happy to find. The kitchenette is a favorite: full-size fridge and freezer, dishwasher, and the basics for making meals. Parking was easy, and check-in was convenient with a welcoming gentleman at the front desk. The location works well, just off the highway, with gas stations and a Tim Hortons nearby. Grab-and-go breakfast is available. I’ve stayed several times and can see the improvements. Thanks for the good service, I’ll be back.

We booked the king room with a hot tub and it was spacious, clean, and fully stocked. The area was peaceful, parking was plentiful and secure, and the prices and management were great. It made for a lovely night with my spouse, and I’m looking forward to booking that room again.

My work booked the room, and I wasn’t impressed. The first one was poorly cleaned: hair and scum in the bathtub, dirty mirrors, doors that hadn’t been wiped, and a microwave still showing time from the previous guest’s use. It was missing a thermostat, and had a dirty mattress on the floor serving as a box spring, with another mattress on top. The front desk was happy to move me. We checked the next room together: the tub was cleaner, the mirrors were streaky but looked wiped, and the beds had proper frames and box springs, so I agreed to switch. But when I tried to take a bath, there was no plug. The desk said they couldn’t help because the plugs were built in and they didn’t keep spares. I looked for Saran wrap in the kitchenette to make a makeshift plug and found an empty vodka bottle under the sink instead. Once I managed to make a bath work, I noticed more missed cleaning in the bathroom, including the walls, cupboard fronts, toilet base, and door. In the morning I moved the table to make room for yoga and found a coffee stain on the wall behind it. It looked like it hadn’t been wiped in ages. I also tried the complimentary breakfast. The sausage was rubbery and chewy, and the hash browns were unappetizing. I’d add pictures if I could.
