I was traveling alone and didn’t feel safe staying after I arrived. I’d booked through Expedia an hour outside Rimouski because the hotel had decent reviews and seemed to have a view of the St. Lawrence. Instead, it looked run down, with three police cars in the lot and across the street while officers spoke with some men. I tried calling the office to cancel, but nobody answered. When I requested a refund through Expedia, they refused. I stayed at a motel down the road that looked much safer.

For about $100 for four people, we had no complaints. It’s an older-style roadside motel that’s been renovated and kept clean and well maintained, including the bathroom. The room was a bit small and not big-chain luxury, but it had what we needed for a night on the road: laminate floors, a little fridge and microwave, plus enough seating for all four of us around a small bistro table to watch the Olympics on TV. Complimentary coffee or juice was available in the morning, and toast or a muffin cost $0.50. Town is 3 km away. The WiFi was easy to access and fast, even with three of us using it without any slowdown.

I’ve stayed here twice while heading to Gaspé, and both visits were excellent. Contactless check-in was easy, and the room was very clean and smelled clean too. I go to Gaspé every year, so I’ll stay again.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and I’d highly recommend the place. The room was clean, simple and quite nice, and the price was very reasonable.
