Auberge des Îles du Bic

We never got to stay because the U.S.-Canadian border closure meant we had to cancel our trip. In May, two months before our July booking, I emailed the innkeepers at the correct address to cancel, along with about 10 other lodgings for our 2.5-week trip. Their website and the original confirmation email said 72 hours’ notice was enough for a full refund. Even so, they charged us for both nights without notifying us. When I asked for the money back, they refused and said I had to cancel through their online system. The English version of the site, which we used as Americans, had no cancellation option, so email seemed to be the way to contact them. We now have to dispute the charges with our credit card company. Other places we booked in Canada were incredibly understanding, since we couldn’t legally enter the country for a July vacation during the COVID-19 pandemic. We travel extensively in the U.S. and abroad and haven’t had this kind of problem with lodging before. I’m incredibly disappointed by the lack of hospitality, especially with travel so affected. I’d be wary of staying here and don’t plan to book it on a future trip to the area.
