I’ll never forget this day out at Western Brook Pond. Garry kept the hike organized, safe, and on schedule, and we felt supported from beginning to end. The more difficult stretches involved climbing through roots and mud and balancing across rocks, with Garry explaining how to handle the valley safely. He also shared lots about the local flora, fauna, and history.

This was the toughest hike I’ve ever done, so anyone planning it should prepare more physically than I did. It takes real stamina and mental grit, but reaching the top is worth it for the incredible view. My 20/10 experience was made even better by Gary and Mikayla (Spelling?). Gary was energetic and knew so much, sharing plant and animal facts while hiking and looking for moose. He seemed to know just where to step and grab, and did all he could to get the group up and back safely. Mikayla (Spelling?) was great at guiding us through the tricky sections and pointing out the right route, with plenty of knowledge about plants, lichen, and animals too.

The view from the lookout was incredible, and Garry took some amazing photos of us there. The Western Brooke Pond hike was one of my favourites, with perfect weather and a guide whose bright energy made the whole return trip fun for our group. I learned a lot about the area's geology, plants, animals, and LICHENS, as well as greater Newfoundland. I’d highly recommend heading to the top of the Brooke with Out East. It’s worth the price, hands down. You just gotta book it!

I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels, and this was one of the best. The shared space felt cozy and welcoming, with even a Nintendo switch and controller to use. Everything worked, and the amenities were well covered. Its central spot in the park made exploring easy, and the summer guided hikes were a nice extra. I’d highly recommend it.

Meeting fellow travelers was easy in the open communal layout, and I ended up going on adventures with some new friends from the hostel. The place feels freshly renovated and thoughtfully set up, from the spacious rooms and spotless floors to the excellent showers. My bed was cozy and private, with its own fan, nightlight, and charging station offering USB and regular plugs. After a rainy hike, the boot dryer was a small but welcome touch. You can book guided tours here, and there’s a well-stocked outdoor store on site too. Clean, comfortable, friendly, and ready for adventure. I highly recommend Out East Adventure Hostel.
