The train was a huge part of our stay. A historic train circles the flotel area and blasts its horn along the route through town, at 2 am, 4 am, 6 am, any time in the morning. We barely slept. The place was a different experience in October, when the water level was low or gone and the area was muddy and smelled awful for most of our stay. My husband was told we'd get a refund for the first night, which seemed like the least they could do. We knew the unit was a handbuilt single space, barely large enough for the bunk beds, with just a tiny coffee table. Still, it felt much tighter than expected. Soon after we arrived, there was no water, so neither the sink nor toilet worked. When we called for service, the power went out too. The marina was closed and it was dark outside. After driving in from Newark, the four of us, two adults and two kids, sat without lights, Wi-Fi, or water to use the restroom. We were told to get water from the marina and pour it into the toilets to flush. Things stayed that way until noon the next day, though it was fixed by the time we got back to the room. It was a decent choice for what we needed, and we knew what was advertised and what we were paying for. I can see it being a hot spot for local events and in summer. It wasn't an awful stay, just a rough first impression. Don't expect too much and you'll be fine.

The staff kept us well informed, and the little terrace out back was a lovely spot to sit in the evening by the outdoor fireplace and look at the stars. The room was a bit cramped but had plenty of space for two. The location is hard to beat, right on the water at the marina in central St-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

My room had stained curtains and a sticky floor, and the breakfast was cold and tasted stale. The walls were so thin I could hear every conversation and noise from the other rooms. When I asked to move, they wouldn't help. I wouldn't stay here again.

Unit 10 gets full sun and has no air conditioning. The unit was a little smaller than I expected, and parking was difficult. There's no bathroom vent, and there's a loud bar at the end of the pier.

Even in windy weather, I had no trouble with seasickness, despite being prone to it. Now I've got Dramamine with nowhere to use it, but there are worse ways to waste a few dollars. We booked very early online and also called about getting two rooms on the same boat. Each room is a converted cargo container, with two rooms per boat. We were assured it wouldn't be a problem, but ended up split between boats. Our kids are teens, so it wasn't a safety concern, though I wasn't happy about it. Since booking multiple rooms is an unusual situation, I don't think it's fair to take stars off for that. It's a great little find and a wonderful spot to watch the eclipse. As others have said, it's small but nicely done.
