The New Elgin Motel

This motel is really only suited to people who have plans during the day and need somewhere to sleep at night. There’s not much to do on site, and the water pressure and quality are really bad. The thin walls also mean you can hear everything when people use rooms for one-night stands, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for small children or anyone who wants to avoid hearing that. The owners are friendly but quiet. You have to ask a lot of questions to find out what you need to know.

We had a lovely little room overlooking the park, and the whole place was presented beautifully. The bathroom was small, with a little shower cubicle, but that didn’t take away from the experience. From the welcome to being shown our room and given welcome drinks, the service was exemplary and exceeded expectations. We stay here every time we visit Port stanley. Best motel in the town!

We were exhausted, and this stay only added time to our 10 hour drive. The heat was stuck on high, with no thermostat in sight, the water was so disgusting it left me feeling dirtier after brushing my teeth, and the bed was horrible. The pillows were huge and hard, and the TV kept freezing and glitching. It was a smokers room and stank, with clumps of nicotine on the coat rack and walls. We paid $124.30 for the night, even with a 30$ pet deposit and "$20 off". I also asked about a military discount, so I have no idea what the room actually cost. I only got the card charge, not a proper receipt, and I don’t know whether the pet deposit was returned or counted as a tip. Lol, it was not great. Just keep driving. We’re stopping in London next time.

I stayed here Sept 27 2020 after seeing the positive reviews, and I was very disappointed. The rooms were dark, dingy, dirty, and dated. They’re all smoking rooms, and they smell like it. If I hadn’t already had a long day of driving, I would’ve gone elsewhere. I think the pictures speak for themselves.
