The pool is nice, and the hotel could be a good place if it weren't for the constant noise pollution. A guy runs a leaf blower by the pool for many hours a day, ruining the stay, and there's also a gas pressure washer going almost all the time. You wake up to the blower and hear it for hours. If you want peace, stay elsewhere. The pool might be enjoyable if you can stand the noise. Screaming kids are constant too, though to be fair, that's any pool.

I came in early May, off season, and the empty pool looked nice. The hot tub was cozy. I worked in the industry, so I know how hard it is to keep up with maintenance and cleanliness, but they need to do better. There were blood stains on the sheets, drywall patches on the mattress that weren't great, and peeling caulking. That's what I'd expect in a cheap hotel, not here. Don't rely on Google, since there's no breakfast as listed.

The hot tub was nice. I was there in the off season, so I can't comment on the pool. The rooms also let you hear everything, and the sheets were just draped over the bed instead of tucked in. The website front page and filters on third-party booking sites all said free breakfast was included, which obviously helped persuade me to book. But they told me there hadn't been continental breakfast for over two years because the restaurant is now completely separate.

Hilltop has a lot of potential, but room cleanliness and mattress quality seem inconsistent. I've stayed several times and had a different experience each time. Last month, in a two-queen room on the second floor near the pool in the separate building, the sheets were clean and the medium-firm mattress let us sleep well. Today I got a king room on the ground floor, literally below last month's room, and it felt more like a cheap $90-a-night motel. The mattress should have been replaced in 1990, or whenever it went into service. It sagged badly in the middle with no support, like a water mattress. Despite being a king, there was nowhere comfortable to sleep except the middle, good luck with two people. The sheets had yellow stains. I used the small second-floor hot tub, which gets the job done. I'd return, but I'd test the mattress right away.

We were well looked after, and I'd recommend staying here again. The restaurant food was incredible, and the staff were awesome and so much fun. Julie at the front desk was friendly and shared some history that connected with what we were there to revisit. My family and I came back to explore some history from long ago. We had a nice 750 sq ft room with a kitchenette, a comfortable bed, clean linens, a Keurig station and a make-up station. Since it was early fall and things were slowing down, we didn't use the outdoor hot tub because it was getting chilly, and the pool was closed in October. That didn't take away from the pleasant stay. My one complaint was not being able to sign in to Netflix or another streaming app. We hadn't brought a laptop or HDMI cable, and I'm not sure whether HDMI was supported, so our movie choices at night were limited to MSM news. Yuck.
