Budget Lodge

Check your card statement if you stay here. In my experience, they don't return deposits promptly or honestly. I checked out 15 minutes before the scheduled time, returned the key, and still didn't get my deposit back. No one was at the counter, and nobody answered when I called several times. They later tried to tell me over the phone that the deposit was an extra charge on top of the room price. I consider that a scam. Don't rent a room here.

We lasted five minutes before leaving. The place smelled terrible, and the neighborhood felt sketchy. There were cigarette butts around the property, and the sheets had cigarette burns. I've stayed in youth hostels and volunteered at homeless shelters with better facilities. Please change the listing to show what this place really is. Parking was behind the building, with no accessible entrance there, and the front door wasn't accessible from the parking either. We had to ring a bell to get inside. There was no elevator, so with my injured leg in a boot I had to use a creepy staircase. The bathroom was shared among three rooms, had no towels, and other people's things were scattered around. The portable AC vented out the window, leaving it unsecured. This was horrible, and it's not a hotel.

We ended up covered in bed bug bites, though thankfully we hadn't brought much inside. The rooms and shared bathroom looked clean apart from that, but the broken door locks meant we didn't feel safe. I think there may have been a separate keypad lock for room entry, which was something at least. People were smoking really foul-smelling weed in their rooms. We told the desk worker, but nothing changed. They were still at it hours later when we left. I can see this place making sense if you're in a tough spot or can't afford anything else, and we probably should have expected the bed bugs.

Stains on the walls, hair on the bed, and people doing drugs on the street. I can't believe Expedia lists this place. It's dirty, feels unsafe and isn't worth the money. Zero out of ten, I can't recommend it. Don't stay here.
