Delta Hotels by Marriott Bessborough

We loved the character of the older Bessborough Hotel. The paths to our rental car were cleared and sanded, which mattered a lot for two pensioners. Housekeeping did a great job, and Tammy looked after us at both breakfasts, including a couple of tasty steel cut oats with all the good sides. Ryan took great care of us in the lounge bar on our first night. We had the Bess garden salad with grilled chicken and Tikka Masala, both delicious, and my non-alcoholic rhubarb refresher was just right. It was our first visit, for three nights in February 2026. The young man at check-in was helpful with everything, though I didn't catch his name. Thanks to everyone.

The pool area looked nice at first, though up close it felt old and kind of gross. The food was like a truck stop diner, only worse, which is a shame for a place with an old restaurant on the ground floor and possible patio space on the Spadina side. The building has old charm and loads of potential, but it also feels neglected. I know repairs to a place like this would probably cost a crazy amount, but it's sad to see it in its current state. For the price, the experience just isn't worth it. I spend thousands a year at Marriott hotels and would pick the airport location for half the cost. The Bess falls short of what it could be.

The lobby and hotel are beautiful. I stayed for Valentine's Day, but because of renovations I could only get a regular room, even though I'd tried to book an accessible one. The room was nice, but the small bathroom and low toilet made it hard to use. I'll try booking again after the renovations, when I can get an accessible room.

Construction noise woke me at 7 a.m., and the mornings were very noisy. I get that the hotel is being renovated, but they should either keep rooms quiet in the morning or avoid accommodating guests during construction. The shower water was brown, and the tub had dirty water residue. The bathroom looked worn and didn't seem properly cleaned. The heater also couldn't warm the room properly if I left the curtains open to enjoy the view.
