Hotel Marineau Shawinigan

Finding the parking and the entrance door was difficult. Also, watch out because there are four hotels with this name. I ended up driving to the wrong one, then had to drive half an hour back.

Hotel Marineau was an easy, relaxing place to stay. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were welcoming, and service was excellent. There's a car charger on site, though you have to pay for it. I'd highly recommend it.

I couldn't relax or rest here. The toilet and TV were broken, the washroom was moldy, and the shared areas looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in days. They couldn't move me to another room because the other rooms, though unoccupied, hadn't been cleaned.

For one night in Shawinigan, this was a decent place at a good price. The staff were friendly, and everyone we met spoke some English, which helped. Rooms were a reasonable size and tidy, although cleaning around the bathroom and bed felt rushed. My main issue was the room being called "deluxe": it was small, with a queen bed, TV, two chairs, and a shower, and I don't see what made it deluxe. The advertised continental breakfast also didn't seem to match what one should include. It worked for an overnight stop, but I wouldn't be comfortable staying longer.
