The gym and theatre gave us a fun place to hang out in the evenings after long days. We booked Camp Simpson for a bachelor party, and there was more than enough room for our big group. Noise was never a problem, and our host made sure we were comfortable, with lots of flexibility around check-in and check-out. We had a blast and would definitely come back. A real hidden gem on the prairies.

Our room felt welcoming and had pretty much everything my family needed. Simpson Camp Retreats is still a work in progress, though the owner-manager is doing a good job turning the building into visitor accommodation. It’s a bit of a diamond in the rough. If you’re handy, you can trade some work for a free night, which seems like a nice way to help out and enjoy the area’s recreation and entertainment.

We had four families together for the weekend and there was plenty of space, including two big kitchens, roomy bedrooms, and large TVs in each room. The kids stayed entertained with the great gym and movie theatre. The owner was very accommodating with our requests. It’s also a quick drive to Manitou Beach/Spa and Watrous golf course. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.

The movie theatre was a fun surprise, and my kids loved the place. We came with friends and family, and it was just right for a weekend away. Everything was super clean, and Leroy was only a phone call away whenever we needed support. We’ll visit again soon.

We had a great time at Simpson Camp with our group of 14. The south side apartment gave us six spacious bedrooms, two full kitchens, two 6-piece bathrooms, and a games room with a pool table. The firepit, bikes, gym, and movie theatre were lovely extras, and there was something to keep all ages entertained. Simpson itself is small, quiet, and felt safe. Manitou Springs and Watrous are a short drive away for conveniences, golf, and the spa. Leroy was flexible and accommodating from booking through our stay, and readily brought us things we asked for, like garbage bags, dishwasher soap, and BBQ tools. A heads-up about what’s provided and what to bring would help. We had lots of questions beforehand and still made some wrong assumptions. Bedding, towels, a coffee maker, and bottled water were provided, and the stocked coffee station was a nice touch. But the “BBQ” was actually a firepit that needed coals. We expected propane, so we had to find briquettes in Watrous. We would have liked a kettle, larger bowls for a big group, oven mitts, dish towels, a vegetable peeler, a rubber spatula, and a fly swatter, or at least to know to bring them. Groups who want to sit outside should bring their own chairs. We still really enjoyed the stay and would happily recommend it.
