The sunset over the St Lawrence was beautiful from the porch, dock, or campfire, and there was plenty of lawn space for the kids to run around. Our family of four had a great stay in the adorable cottage. It had a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds, and the children enjoyed the pool, playground, and toy cars. Iroquois beach and Upper Canada Village were both a short drive away. The staff made us feel welcome and comfortable throughout. We loved it and plan to come back.

The older kids had a great time in the hammocks, and our youngest was comfortable too. We enjoyed our weekend and will definitely return.

We spent three quiet nights in cottage 7, right across from the pool. It was cozy and cute, and that queen bed was so comfortable we sank right into it. Since we both have bad backs, we were nervous about getting a hard mattress, but were pleasantly surprised. I even asked what kind it was. The only drawback was the limited river view from the porch, so we might try cottage 8 next time. There was plenty to do: swimming in the pool or river, snorkeling and seeing lots of fish and huge bass, strolling around the property, watching beavers, or having a campfire. Bring plenty of bug spray and citronella candles if you plan to sit by the fire. We mostly loved relaxing on the porch and listening to music. We liked it enough to add another night to our bill since the cottage was still available. Thanks for all your help. It's a beautiful spot, and we'll be back.

We found the cabin clean when we arrived. It was dated and rustic, but that suited the cabin feel. The owner was kind and accommodating, and we had what we needed for cooking and barbecuing. There were lots of outdoor toys for our one-year-old, and the property was pleasant and very quiet. At times it felt as though we had the place to ourselves. Morrisburg was under ten minutes away, and we spent the day at its very nice beach. The beds were the main downside: ours was too soft, the box springs squeaked loudly, and the pillows were hard. The main road to Iroquois was closed during our stay, apparently for a couple of weeks, so getting there meant going past Iroquois and doubling back. It also made going into town for supplies less convenient. I only found out through Google Maps, then asked the owner about it before we arrived. We skipped Iroquois beach, which we'd planned to visit. The closure wasn't anyone's fault, but a note on the website before booking would have helped. The negative reviews seem to come from people expecting too much.

The grounds are lovely, and being right on the St. Lawrence River was wonderful. Our host was friendly and gave us useful information about the area. We couldn't safely take out a canoe or kayak because of the wind and water conditions. A couple of things could use attention: the bed in cottage #1 was much too soft, so one of us slept on the futon. The screens and deck had cobwebs that we cleaned before leaving, and the shower water smelled like rotten eggs, perhaps sulfur.
