Spanish River Inn

I had a pleasant stay here. The room was comfortable, clean, and well maintained. Everything was great, and I'd recommend this motel.

There were a few places to see the river within 30 minutes, but during my stay only one restaurant was open within that same distance. The motel charges a fee for pets. The room had a TV, microwave, mini fridge, and water warmer for coffee, and it was clean. The AC didn't cool it very well, and the beds were a little uncomfortable, though I slept fine. It was a semi-decent stay at the Spanish River Inn.

The owner handles everything himself, so it can take a while for him to come to the door, but it's definitely worth it. This was my second stay. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the TV works, and the air conditioning gives you some relief from the heat. There's no WIFI. Pets are welcome too.

Security bothered me most. The room door only has a turnbutton on the doorknob, with nothing else, and there's a back door that I think leads to a hall but couldn't open from inside the room. Highway noise was pretty loud, though it eased off a lot at night. I needed somewhere for just one night that would take my dog, and there isn't much choice around here. I called in a reservation a few weeks ahead to check that the dog was okay, but when I arrived, the person who seems to live there didn't have me on their list. Luckily, a room was available. It smelled of stale cigarettes despite having no carpets. The bathroom fan worked only intermittently, and the shower had hot water but not full flow. There's a "restaurant" sign on the building, but the restaurant hasn't operated for years, so plan ahead if you want breakfast.
