Kennedy House has lots of character, charm, and quirky details in its beautiful historic building. I had a wonderful stay in the King Suite, which came with a private patio and an incredible view. The room had a sink, mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave, and there’s a fantastic restaurant and bar downstairs. It’s right in the middle of everything. Guests should know Kennedy House closes at 11:00 PM, with no staff on site overnight. For me, that added to the property’s community feel. It’s definitely not a corporate hotel like the Hilton, and I mean that as a huge compliment. I’ll absolutely return!

We were six adults having a special beer-pairing meal at Kennedy Inn on Friday evening. The mussels were fantastic, and my steak was cooked perfectly, but others at the table said their steaks were very tough. None of us ate the lobsters. They were overcooked, rubbery, and tasteless, with no butter served alongside, which might have helped. The blueberry pie for dessert was lovely. The beer arrived before any food, and the server didn’t explain how each beer matched the courses. Since the meal lasted about 90 minutes, the beers sat for quite a while. Our server never smiled during any of his interactions with us, and we left feeling unwelcome.

We booked Thanksgiving dinner at the Kennedy House for October 12/25. It feels like a community gathering place, whether you’re there for dinner, a cold drink on the patio, or to watch a sport broadcast. We had a fresh-cooked four-course turkey dinner with all the fixins, presented wonderfully. Our host Moe and our servers Mark and Julie made us feel at home and gave excellent table service. We highly recommend Kennedy House, a big part of the heartbeat of St. Andrews by the Sea.

I had a disappointing stay. The room was cold, and the floors were uneven enough that I slept on a tilt. There was no hot water for the shower, and the night worker tried to overcharge me. A cannabis dispensary is at the rear of the building, and there were shady characters in the parking lot. This is an unsavory place I’d avoid.
