Tara Manor Inn

The bed was very comfortable, and the room felt roomy, clean, and thoughtfully equipped for a short stay. Breakfast had plenty of choice, including tasty homemade muffins, fruit, cereal, and gluten-free bread, which I appreciated.

The pullout couch was so thin and missing springs, and we had to move it just to open it. The room also smelled musty, like mildew. At check-in on Friday afternoon, Sept 14th, the woman at the front desk wasn't friendly. When I asked to take a menu to our room, she said no, which seemed odd if they want guests to eat there. The included breakfast was very basic and seemed aimed at older guests. We were offered a $5-per-person coupon for the full-service restaurant, which gave the impression they wanted us to eat there instead. The rooms and atmosphere didn't feel suited to young people with children. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, though fortunately we were only stopping for the night.

We had a really nice night at this relaxing manor during our time in St. Andrews. The complimentary breakfast was great, and the staff were super friendly. I'd stay here again next time I'm in town.

The owners were very helpful, and the dining room was nicely situated for a great breakfast. It's a convenient spot for travellers, not far from downtown St. Andrews. Getting to our room was unsafe and led to an accident, though.
