Mashkinonje Lodge

The hosts were warm and responsive, and made sure we had what we needed throughout our stay. We spent time hiking nearby trails, swimming in the lake, and sitting under the stars, with plenty of room for the whole family to relax back at the cottage. It was clean, beautifully maintained, and had a cozy feel despite being spacious. The kitchen had what we needed to cook, and after time outdoors we liked unwinding by the fireplace. Board games, books, comfy blankets, and a welcome basket were thoughtful touches. There was also a big deck for coffee, a fire pit for marshmallows, and open, safe space for the kids to run around. The peaceful, scenic setting was just what we wanted for a family getaway. We had a great time and are already planning to return.

The cottages keep getting renovations and maintenance each year, and Lise and Andrew are excellent hosts who are happy to help with questions or anything you need. We’ve been coming to this resort with our kids for several years, including when it had the previous owners. The water system is lovely and works perfectly for our boat. We look forward to our week at the cottage every summer.

The fishing was really good, with lots of pike, bass, perch, and walleye, though no trophies. We spent a week at Mashkinonje in late June with my son and his family, and the kids had a great time. The cabins were clean and well equipped, and the newly renovated ones are superb. Lise and Andrew are wonderful hosts. Thanks to them for a great week. We can’t wait to return next year, though we’re on the waiting list!

We had a few issues with cottage #1, but the owners did their best to accommodate us and plan to work on resolving them. The cottage was clean and well equipped, with a deck offering an amazing lake view and a private firepit overlooking the water. We loved watching the sunset each night, and the private dock was just a few steps from the door. It’s a beautiful resort, and the owners are clearly working hard to make it a great place for guests. We really enjoyed our week there.
