Canalta St Paul

The rooms at Canalta Hotel St. Paul were clean, modern, and had what I needed. I also found the staff quick to answer questions by text, which made things convenient. After a long trip, the Manager on Duty got me checked in efficiently and walked me through the facilities and amenities. I’d gladly stay here again when I’m in St. Paul for business.

I spent three weeks here and would pick it first in St. Paul. The rooms are roomy and clean, and Cindy and her staff are friendly in a genuine way. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and I especially liked the drip coffee. There’s also a decent-sized pool with a slide, hot tub, and sauna.

The kids especially liked the pool and water slide, but the games room was the big draw for our group during the Elk Point hockey tournament. It gave them somewhere to hang out together, and I was surprised the arcade games were free. The coffee bar was open all day, with to-go cups that were handy for the games, and breakfast had something for everyone. Having a mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig in our room helped us bring enough varied food to avoid eating out all weekend. I could also make coffee in the room first thing in the morning before I was ready to head out. Thanks again!

The room itself was nice, but loose fixtures and curtain rods that looked ready to fall off made things inconvenient. Room cleaning is opt-in, too. You have to hang a “please make my room” tag, when I think it should work the other way around. After a long workday I was looking forward to reheating my leftover pizza, which I’d left on the counter because it wouldn’t fit in the tiny fridge. Housekeeping threw it out, and when I told the front desk, they only said they’d tell the manager. They didn’t even offer to replace the pie. What happened to justice and customer service?
