The Old Rectory Bed & Breakfast

The food was exquisite, from the homemade yogurt, local preserves, fresh fruit, baked goods, and hot entrées to the light, flaky croissants. I could happily have lived on the toasted almond mandarin cake or mini coconut blueberry pound cakes. The waffles with peaches and caramel were airy and delicious, and the cheese soufflé the next morning was wonderfully melty. The house has a charming old-fashioned feel, somewhere between Downton Abbey and 221B Baker Street. Our room was nicely appointed, with a half-bath ensuite, ceiling fan, and small private roof deck. I especially loved reading among the plants and plush seats in the warm brick sunroom, and in the stunning back garden. Kevin and Kim were kind, happy to chat, and full of suggestions for our August visit and other seasons. They were very accommodating, even letting us leave the car in their parking area after checkout while we finished shopping on foot. The shops and restaurants on the main strip are an easy walk away. My husband and I had a delightful anniversary stay, and I’m already thinking about when to come back to Stratford.

The location is perfect, and the rooms are comfortable and spotless. Breakfasts are amazing, and Kim and Kevin are superb hosts. Such a gem.

We’ve just completed our 24th visit to the Od Rectory, and it keeps getting better. Our group has been coming since 2000. Kim and Kevin take wonderful care of everyone, even helping with restaurant bookings, luggage from the car to the room and back, and tea from one of the two overly tea shops in town. The rooms are comfortable and immaculately clean, and breakfast is marvelous: fresh fruit, special baked goods, homemade jams, and excellent hot dishes. This time it was waffles, yesterday it was cheese soufflés. All the theatres are an easy walk away, so we often leave the car parked for the whole visit. You can’t choose a better place in Stratford. Best B&B in town!

The room was beautifully appointed, and the hosts made us feel at home during our two days in town for a show and some shopping. Everything we wanted to see was close enough that we didn’t need to drive. We sat on the balcony overlooking the yard and had a drink before bed. In the morning, the dining area was laid out with homemade jams and baked goods. The hosts were wonderful again, and the food was great. I’ll return to the Old Rectory next time we visit Stratford.
