The bed was comfortable enough that I slept pretty well, which is the one reason this gets a star. We only stayed because every one of the 102 hotels and motels in the area was sold out. I'm not recommending it and won't return. The room wasn't what we'd booked. It was dusty, only moderately clean, and the carpet was worn out. The coffee pot hadn't been cleaned after the previous guest. The complimentary shampoo and conditioner were past their best-before dates, from 2015, even though it was 2017. The air conditioner sputtered like an engine and blew some stuff out when we turned it on. There were only five TV channels. The bathroom was rough and moldy in places. It needs a complete rebuild, down to the studs. Walking in brought back memories of the musty old hunting camp smell. One star is plenty for this old place. The manager was rude.

The air conditioner was ancient and so noisy, and the mattress was old and far too soft. We complained to the owner, but nothing was done. After checkout, our deposit wasn't returned. The owner said it was because we had left poor reviews. My husband is now planning to contact the RCMP and a lawyer about it. The property seemed badly managed, and the whole stay was a very bad experience. I hate to say it, but I feel the owner is a rip-off.

I booked a room, then had to move the reservation by a day because of flight delays. I called the owner to cancel and rebook, and was told there were several rooms available for the new date. When I arrived, I saw that payment had already been taken for the original booking. I was prepared to be patient while that mistake was corrected and to pay for the night I actually stayed, but I was also charged a cancellation fee even though I had cancelled with the owner. In the end I was billed for an extra day and charged too much, with no adjustment or refund. The owner was very rude and communicated poorly. I only want the overcharge refunded. I'm local now, and I strongly recommend avoiding this motel and their other one, “Slumber lodge” in Penticton BC.

The location is hard to beat, with Tim Hortans, Dairy Queen and a grocery store right across the street. If you're travelling with a dog, there's a big grassy area just outside for bathroom breaks. The pool was a nice bonus too. We loved our stay at Pleasant View. We travel often and had a realistic idea of what a $100 a night motel with a pool would be like, but it still pleasantly surprised us. I really suggest paying the extra $15 a night for the bigger unit with a kitchen. The basic room with two queen beds is cramped, and with our dog we'd have been stepping over each other. The rooms are dated, as motels often are, but ours was clean. The bathroom looked freshly painted and the tub area had been fixed, so it seems they're making improvements. No complaints from us. Keep the price in mind and you'll be happy with the stay.

The room had ants, the pipes clattered through the night, and traffic outside was constant. The facilities also smelled like outhouse detergent. It was a stressful, frustrating stay, and this place was not worth the money. When I called to confirm a standard room at Pleasant View Motel and RV Park, the owner tried to charge $110 a night instead of the $105 mid-August rate quoted in an email. He kept pushing until I said I had proof of the email. At check-in he was rude and tried to get us to switch rooms for a higher nightly rate. The website had promised a mini-fridge in the standard room, but ours had none. I checked my Visa because I didn't trust him. He'd charged the two nights at $105 each, plus another $117 without telling me. When we arrived, he'd said he couldn't charge the card because it hadn't gone through. This is illegal. We're on vacation, how hard should this be? A very unhappy customer.
