Summerland Motel

We put the room service sign out every day for all four days, but got service only once. They made the bed without changing the sheets. No fresh towels came during the stay, and the suite's trash was never taken out. Toiletries and paper weren't replenished either. We had the “make up room” sign up each day, and nothing happened.

A beautiful, quiet garden and a clean, comfortable room. The location was convenient for the Kettle Valley railroad.

It wasn't the worst place, but it wasn't the best either. The rooms are dingy and dated, and they stayed quite warm even with the air conditioner on. There was no kitchenette, just a microwave and fridge. We asked the front desk for fresh towels and toilet paper. They brought them but left them on the bed, along with all the dirty towels and garbage, even though our maid sign was on the door. The pool entrance was locked, so we had to walk around the building; eventually a man came and unlocked the main entrance.

The front desk woman was lovely, but my son and I left feeling sick from the heat and had to drive home. It was close to 11:30 p.m. by then. The room was dirty and seemed not to have been tended to for a long time. Someone in a nearby party said their room smelled like urine. We booked last minute at the Summerland motel, which turned out to be a huge mistake. Our room's front door was wide open and the air conditioning off when we arrived. It was over 35 degrees inside. We turned the AC on, went out for a couple of hours with the door shut, and came back to find it no cooler. We waited another two hours, then called the front desk for a fan. It barely helped. No one was at the desk, so we left a voicemail. It was returned 15 minutes later, and the British lady suggested the room next door, but we were already on our way home. I called in the morning and left another message, which wasn't returned, so I called again in the afternoon. The British lady accused me of leaving the doors open all evening, blaming that for the AC not working. She said she would refund me, then claimed the room had been freezing when they checked it that morning and decided against it. She lied over the phone to avoid refunding almost $300. My son was very disappointed, and I can't afford to lose $300 after wasting my money.
