Swift Current Thriftlodge

The front desk staff were cheerful and friendly, and there are shops within walking distance if you need essentials. I was stranded in Swift Current for two nights after my car broke down, and Skyview was affordable, clean, and unpretentious. My room had a coffee machine, thankfully, and a hairdryer. The decor is dated, with some small renovation jobs left unfinished, like spots that needed plastering. The bathtub liner was in rough shape, so I stuck to showers. It was warm, which matters in winter here, and the modern heating and air conditioning system worked well. No bugs, and my sheets were very clean. Nice enough for my budget.

The worst part was finding bed bugs, and there were strands of someone else's hair on the pillows. We woke early, saw the bugs, and decided to leave instead of going back to sleep. Some of the room lights didn't work, and the wall outlets were so flimsy we couldn't charge our phones. I'm really shaken by this and do not recommend staying here.

We got what we needed and slept well in a basic, clean room with a comfortable bed, and the price was fair. The air conditioner and fridge were rattly loud, though, and the wifi didn't work for us. If you're tired of paying too much for a basic chain hotel room, this is a good option.

The location is handy, close to the highway, other motels, restaurants, and some stores. Check-in was easy, and the person helping us was friendly. I also noticed the dog friendly sign, which was nice to see. The room needs a lot of TLC. Only the deadbolt worked, because the door guard was broken, and there were boarded-up old windows with a curtain rod above where there wasn't a window. There were holes in the ceiling, and just one blanket for a two-bed room, so we used the top quilts, at least with sheets underneath. The bathroom was freezing, with no heat that I could tell beyond regular air circulation. The heater warmed the rest of the room well. There was a mini fridge, microwave, coffee and coffee maker. I didn't use the TV since we were only there one night. Wifi was free but slow, so I used my data.
