Travelodge by Wyndham Swift Current

At 3:30 in the morning we were still awake, with four hours left to go and no sleep. We can't drive in the dark, so we had to wait it out. The room was like an oven, over 90 degrees at one point, and the thermostat wasn't working. The air conditioner was too noisy to leave on. My husband's bed made a terrible noise whenever he moved, and mine squeaked when I moved. We tried blocking the heater with blankets over chairs and opening the door. We're seniors with health problems, and there was no point trying to get help then because the place was packed. The sheets were the wrong size and kept coming off. My husband made coffee since we were up, but it was so bad he threw it out. Such an upsetting experience, and a $100 loss.

I booked Room 118 at the Travelodge Swift Current, SK, while I was working on opening a new location in town. The room was a health hazard. The beds were moldy, and the mattress had soaked-in blood stains, not just on the sheets. The showers were clogged with dirt. We knew something was wrong as soon as we walked in. The key cards never worked, even after they reissued them. The front desk clerk was disgusted by what she saw and offered to move us to Room 120, but the hallway told us plenty: stained floors, unbearable smells, and a building that looked like it was collapsing. It didn't seem fit for families, children, or anyone. We checked out immediately, but every other hotel and motel in Swift Current was booked. We had to drive two hours away in the middle of the night, sleep for three hours, then drive back. They said they refunded my card, but their outdated machine only processed an offline manual refund. I won't believe I've received anything until I see it in my bank account. The place looked abandoned, with only four cars in the lot. Honestly, it should be condemned. I've reported it to contacts in the federal government and Health Canada, and sent them the videos and photos we took. This is a disgrace to the Wyndham brand, and Wyndham should be ashamed to have its name on the building. Because of this location, I won't trust Wyndham or Booking.com again. It's a great deal for what you pay. The place is basic, but clean and comfortable, with the essentials covered. A solid budget option if practicality and price matter more to you than luxury.

The staff were so accommodating, friendly, and courteous. The rooms were clean and well appointed, and it was very good value. Breakfast was continental, with fresh coffee. I travel a lot and often stay at last-minute places, and I'd definitely stay here again.
