Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre

The room was spacious and comfortable, though the pillows were too high. I didn’t mention it to the staff. I only dealt with them at check-in and checkout, and they were friendly and helpful both times. During our COVID-19 visit, the pool was open to a maximum of 10 people, with the front desk staff managing access. The restaurant and gym were closed. It seems like a pretty decent hotel, near several restaurants and beaches. My review might be different in normal times.

This was our second stay at the Clarion Hotel, and it was nothing like the first. The room was okay, but they didn’t have what we’d requested. We came because my son loves the indoor pool, so it was disappointing that it was too cold for a toddler. We tried again the next day and it still wasn’t being warmed up. At check-in, we waited more than 15 minutes because one person was handling reception and helping guests in their rooms. I know COVID-19 affected businesses, but the hotel was full, so I don’t understand why there was only one person working on Saturday, August 21, 2021. The woman working was amazing, polite, and very helpful. People weren’t wearing masks at reception, in the lobby, or in the hallways, and staff weren’t enforcing the rule. As a Level 8 Google reviewer, I won’t return unless they address the rooms and pool. To whoever runs the Clarion Hotel, this is a hotel, not a motel. Treat it properly and provide better service and accommodation.

The staff were courteous and helpful, and the front desk gave excellent service. The hotel was clean, but it badly needs modernization. The carpets and room interiors look old, and there’s a musty carpet smell. The thermostats seem like they’re from the 1970s. The toilet seats are small, round, and low. If you aren’t staying in a suite, they charge an extra $10 each for a microwave and refrigerator.

I left a brand new shirt in my room and didn’t realize it was missing for more than a week. When I called, housekeeping got back to me promptly, confirmed they had it, and said they’d send it right out. It arrived the very next day. The hotel is comfortable and well located, and everyone from housekeeping to the front desk deserves credit for outstanding customer service. I wish I could do more than recommend them. Many thanks. Also, the bacon was yummy.
