I lost $600 after booking through Expedia, and despite sending proof, I still haven't received the damage deposit back. The property says it refunded me, but the bank statement I shared with Expedia shows no refund. Neither the property nor Expedia has provided evidence of one. I have email proof if needed. I couldn't get the property to address it. They asked Expedia not to call them about the case, and when I tried contacting them directly, my number had been blocked. As far as I can tell, the property faces no consequence and can do this to another customer. Expedia has said it can't resolve the issue or even ban the property. Other reviews suggest other guests have also been affected. Do not book this place.
I cancelled my booking after reading about other guests having trouble checking in. I was traveling with an infant, and since it was our first trip to Canada, I wasn't comfortable taking that risk. Even after several emails, calls, and messages with Expedia and the property, they refused to refund us and kept the full payment. They were uncooperative and showed no consideration. It was a very disappointing experience, and in all my years of traveling, I've never dealt with a property like this. I wouldn't recommend somewhere that treats guests without compassion.
The property wanted my clients to send a $600 deposit by e-transfer or Zelle, which raised serious concerns for me about security and legitimacy. I've filed a formal complaint with Expedia and strongly recommend avoiding 12 York by CN Tower until the issues are investigated. I'm a travel agent, and I booked for my clients through Expedia. The listing said they would have a private bathroom and didn't disclose that this was a shared residence. When they arrived, they found themselves sharing a three-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with several strangers. It was game 1 of the World Series, so finding somewhere else was extremely difficult. Management was rude and dishonest throughout, and even accused me of changing the booking to make it look private. That accusation was completely false.
I arrived at the listing without ever getting a confirmation email, like other reviewers have described. I called nine times before anyone answered, and the staff said they'd sent the check-in information to the wrong person. At the last minute, they asked me to send $600 to a personal PayPal account. I told them I didn't have PayPal and couldn't set it up in time. Management confirmed they would refund me because of the misunderstanding, and the booking site hadn't disclosed this. Months later, there's still no refund. They don't answer calls or messages. You get what you pay for, and apparently you won't get your money back.
City Suites asked for a $600 deposit through EMT, leaving little opportunity for a secure transaction with receipts. The check-in process was convoluted and required at least two hours' notice, which wasn't possible since we flew in. They also overrode our booking, then claimed we'd made the mistake, even though we'd booked through a travel agent. Avoid dealing with them.
