I visited in a professional capacity because one of my clients lives here, and I left very concerned. The building seems worn, outdated, and badly maintained, with cleanliness far below a reasonable standard. It gives the impression that meaningful investment or renovation hasn't happened for a long time. The staff's manner troubled me too. They were impolite and unwelcoming, sometimes openly rude. Since vulnerable members of the Canadian population live here, basic courtesy, empathy, and professionalism should be expected. Management needs to take another look at staff training and supervision. I also hope funding can be found to make the building safer, cleaner, and more dignified for residents. This is no longer a hotel, but a facility converted into a shelter.

We were greeted by the staff at check-in, and the lobby entrance was nicely done. The room was clean, parking was easy, and I liked the location during our two-night stay. A few things could be better: the shower looked fancy but was hard to get to the right temperature, and air bubbles in the faucet seemed to make water spray out. Some exercise machines were out of service. Otherwise, things were good.

We stayed Aug 11-14, 2017, and had a great time. The room was clean and seemed newly updated, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. On the second-to-last day, the elevator doors started closing as I was getting in and left me with two badly bruised forearms. It seemed there might not be a door sensor, which could have been really dangerous for a small child. Apart from that, a great stay.

The rooms were really nice, and I enjoyed the stay. Staff were friendly and the accommodation was nice. I gave it four stars because it met what I expect from a hotel but didn't stand out. There's not much nearby, though, with no convenience store or restaurant within walking distance. I like being able to pick up a snack close by, and there wasn't much around for that.
