The Only Backpacker's Inn

I tried three hostels over four nights and saved the best for last. This one was easily my favourite. It was reasonably priced, especially compared with places charging over $100 a night for a dorm bed, which is bonkers. The decor was funky, cute, and homey, and both staff and other visitors were friendly. The beds and pillows were comfy!!! I was a little concerned about being farther from downtown, but the subway makes it easy to get there. Next time, I'll stay here for my whole trip.

The staff are so friendly, and the owner is welcoming and always ready to help. Rooms are cleaned every day. Easily the best hostel in Toronto, I’d recommend it 100%.

What stood out was how open everyone was to getting to know one another. I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, but this was the first with a community that really captured what a hostel should be. The staff communicated well and made me feel like their only guest. I’d definitely tell backpackers to stop here.

My room had been given to someone else by the time I arrived on Saturday afternoon, even though I’d paid the initial deposit and had a reservation. I was left scrambling to find somewhere else on a busy weekend and ended up paying three times as much. They also never refunded my deposit. Please be careful booking here, they may put your trip at risk just to make more profit. The place itself looked like it had a decent vibe, and the location was okay, but nothing special.
