Auberge Motel La Référence

I wouldn't recommend it. We booked online, but at check-in they said there were no rooms left and sent us to “another hotel”. The alternative was a room in someone's basement, with another room next to ours already occupied. We obviously didn't stay there, and at first they still hadn't reimbursed us. Update: They reimbursed us a week later, after five phone conversations. They kept saying I hadn't paid them directly and that they couldn't reimburse us because I paid the booking website, but that wasn't true. We paid them directly, and the bank statement said Motel La Reference. During the last call, while I was trying to explain that I'd paid them directly, they hung up on me. They reimbursed us the next day.

When we arrived, our credit card had already been charged $500.00, although we were never quoted a price when we booked by phone that summer. We had assumed we'd pay what the website listed, which was $230.00 a night at the time. That seemed overpriced, but we needed showers. Then the beds weren't adequate for our family, and the bed covers had burn holes in them. We told the front desk we were very unhappy with both the room and the cost, which hadn't been stated to us. We refused to stay, but still haven't received a refund. We've tried contacting the hotel and customer service several times and have had no response or refund. Our experience was absolutely appalling. Shame on you, hotel Auberge!!!

The room was OK, with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, some dishes, cups, silverware, and good Wi-Fi. We had the only room key, so there was no cleaning service. Be careful in the shower, since there are no grips. I fell, but luckily didn't hurt myself.

The new owners remodeled the place, and the rooms are much nicer now. My family and I enjoyed our stay and will be back soon. Great customer service and awesome rooms!
