Candlewood Suites Trois Rivieres Ouest by IHG

The beds were super comfortable, and the suites were spotless and thoughtfully equipped. Staff were professional and efficient, and the amenities were very nice. One thing to keep in mind: hockey teams often stay here on winter weekends, and unsupervised kids can make things loud and disruptive. Security helped keep it to a minimum. We’ll book again, it’s a great place to stay.

We had a great stay July 11-12, so we came back on July 18. That second weekend, they wouldn’t honor the government rate, even though they did the first time. We provided photo ID, then were asked for a letter or email confirming work travel. The website says either one is enough, not both. The front desk attendant refused, saying the policy had changed verbally at a meeting the day before. When I asked to see it in writing, she said the GM had only given verbal instructions. I showed her the website policy, but she blamed IHG for not updating it and still wouldn’t honor what was written there. Check carefully before booking if you expect to use a government, CAA, or Armed Forces rate you’re entitled to. You may not get it.

The breakfast area gets crowded at busy times, and there isn’t much to choose from. Aside from that, I was very satisfied with my stay at Candlewood Suites Trois-Rivières Ouest. It’s modern and clean, with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, a large TV, and a well-equipped bathroom. The lounge and laundry are handy, especially for a longer visit. Staff were friendly, and the location is excellent, close to the highway, shops, and restaurants, with free parking. I’d recommend it for either a short or extended stay in Trois-Rivières.

We were traveling with our dog, and the $50 fee was higher than usual, but the stay was A+. The hotel is new, modern, and spotless, and the person at reception was friendly and professional. Candlewood and Holiday Inn Express share a lobby, with one on each side. Our room had a kitchenette and an apartment-sized refrigerator.
