The third room I was given was in great shape, and I appreciated that the motel accepts pets. It’s also conveniently located, about a 10-minute walk from downtown. Getting to that room was frustrating, though. In the first one, the tap was clogged and the bathtub drain was rusty and dirty. The second room hadn’t been cleaned or made ready at all, with unmade beds when I opened the door. I’ve never had this happen at a hotel, especially after a long day of driving, and the place didn’t seem busy then. The pet fee came to nearly $35 with taxes, which feels far too high for a 2-star hotel. In other provinces I’ve usually seen $15-$20 before tax, or a refundable damage deposit. I’d expect staff to check that rooms are in good condition and ready before guests arrive. The reception area could also feel more welcoming with plants or cozy decor.

This is a nice hotel, but the inside needs work. The walls have water marks, and the floor and shelves are damaged and stained. There are also stains in the bathtub. The shower head was broken, though most rooms seem to have it fixed. Taking care of those things would make the place much better.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you book after 11:30 pm. I paid online by credit card, but they didn’t make any effort to honor my reservation. Usually, when a reservation is made after closing, they send the door code and leave an envelope with your name. Nothing like that was done for me, and they didn’t answer the phone. I was left scrambling to find a room and lost my money.

There were ants in the room, the air conditioner was loud, and the place felt like it was falling apart. The comforter had been put under the sheet instead of on top. I had to wonder whether it had even been cleaned. I accidentally left a pair of runners behind, called back, and they were gone. The room was terrible, with no pride in ownership. Don’t stay here.

Snow blew into our room through an old window. Inside, the floor was sticky, with food residue on the laminate, and there was hair all over the bathroom, walls, furniture and other things. The room was very dirty. It felt like nobody cleans the rooms here.
