L'Escale Hôtel Suites

The coffee machine was dirty, there were stains on the floor, and long hairs on the bathroom counter and in the tub. Disgusting. The shell of the jetted tub was coming apart, too. The photos aren’t accurate. They’d sprayed a lot of Febreze or something to make it seem clean, but it wasn’t. Not impressed at all.

This wasn’t what I expected for a business trip. The lobby looked like a waiting room for a community medical service. In the suite, there was a lovely big tub, but I filled it, ran the jets and drained it to check. Black garbage was left at the bottom. Disgusting, and the photos don’t show how nasty it was.

Our reservation was wrong, and we had to pack up and spend one night at another hotel. I should have checked the email when I booked, but I’d never had this happen before. The hotel apparently has upgrades, but no one offered one to keep our business. We won’t stay here again. Our friends are at hotel Forestel, which has better access to the trails, and we wish we’d stayed there. We booked about a week ahead, and were told there’d be heated skidoo parking to thaw our machine, as advertised on the website. When we arrived, they said the garage was full. I have no idea what it was full of, but it wasn’t skidoos, since there weren’t any there. Skidooers, this isn’t the best location. Breakfast was included, but a warden controlled it and there was no help-yourself option, so eating took forever. It was mediocre at best and didn’t start until 7:30, too late if you need an early start. We didn’t get on our trip until 9:30. While packing to leave, I found someone else’s toque on the floor, so the room can’t have been vacuumed well.

My aunt had her 90th birthday dinner in the dining room, and the staff handled everything very well. There were three meal options to choose from. During my stay, the staff were professional, the free breakfast was very good, and the location was great. My room had everything I needed, with a comfortable bed and a well-equipped bathroom. I enjoyed staying here.
