Cambie Hostel Gastown

The bar downstairs was really handy, and during happy hour the beer was probably the cheapest you’ll find anywhere in Vancouver. It’s also a very good spot for a night out. I stayed here for a while as an Australian on a working holiday visa, looking for a job and accommodation. The staff were lovely, especially manager Jose, who was very helpful and seemed to genuinely care about me finding work and a place to stay.

The location worked really well for events, with the stadium, entertainment district, and several major venues nearby. I also liked the two friendly house cats, which made the place feel cozy and homelike. There was secure luggage storage, reliable Wi-Fi, and a well-equipped common kitchen where it was easy to cook and meet other travellers. The staff were exceptional, always welcoming and helpful, and ready with tips about the city. The building is a little older but has historic charm, and it stayed very clean throughout my visit. The price is hard to beat, especially with the pleasant surprise of a 20% discount on food at the adjacent restaurant. I had a fantastic stay at this hostel.

Jose at the front desk was super helpful, friendly, and welcoming. Absolute legend! I stayed just one night, but had a really enjoyable time. The atmosphere is great, the beds are comfy, and they keep the place pretty clean considering how many people come and go. The rooms feel secure, too, with locks added to all the entrances.

The housekeeping at Cambie Hostel made my stay especially good. Maria and Giovana were consistently warm and friendly, and kept everything clean and comfortable. I really appreciated their effort. Thanks to them, I had a great time there.
