Century Plaza Hotel

The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Brijesh, who made me feel valued and respected. Sehaj, Mary, Zeenhan, Beth, Suzanna from CPrime, and housekeeping were all wonderful too. The beds and pillows were unbelievably comfortable, and the kitchen was a nice feature. The rooms were clean, spacious, and quiet, with large balconies and plenty of natural light. I liked being able to open the windows for fresh air. Sirens from the hospital next door were frequent day and night, but with the windows shut they didn’t bother me. Everything we wanted to see was walkable, and there was a public transit station nearby for trips to the airport and science centre. The in-room commercial Nespresso machine, full kitchen with stove and oven, classy decor, spotless spaces, balcony, restaurant, coffee shop, and hospitable staff and front door team were all highlights. A few things could be better: more cooking utensils and a bowl in the suites, more hot water near checkout time, and shorter waits for the elevators.

The patio door gives a beautiful view at night, and the room was very clean. We also got great feedback from reception, who were ready to help. Still, we spent two nights and had no hot water on the first one. Outside noise came through even with the windows closed, including all the fire truck and ambulance sirens, even from the 29th floor. You’ll need earplugs.

Breakfast was great and a definite highlight. The hotel feels a little dated, but it’s spacious and comfortable, and the location is excellent, close to almost everything and especially handy for nightlife because it’s near nightclubs. Most staff were kind and welcoming, though one Eastern European woman was quite rude and unpleasant, which stood out. The shower takes a while to get hot, and our room wasn’t serviced on the second day even though we left the “please make up our room” card. I’d still recommend it for budget travelers who care more about space and location than modern finishes.

The Century Plaza hotel is a great base in central downtown Vancouver. Rooms are spacious and consistently clean, and there are restaurants and pubs a 2-15 minute walk away. Shopping is nearby on Davie Street, Robson, and Granville. St Paul’s Hospital is next door, so light sleepers might find the noise difficult, though we actually like it because it helps us sleep. The hotel has 30 floors of rooms, with two churches beside it, Wesley United Cathedral and First Baptist Cathedral. Samer and the front desk team are always glad to help make your stay go well. Gerry, the Concierge, can answer questions about the area and help book activities. The bellhops welcome you, help with luggage, and open the door for rideshares, personal cars, and taxis. The whole staff is super friendly, and we’ve never stayed somewhere where people greet us so consistently, whether with a wave or a nod from across the room. CPrime restaurant is the best steakhouse in the city, with breakfast and dinner options including 45 or 60 day aged New York Stiploin, Australian Wagyu, ribeye, tomahawk steaks, and pasta. I highly recommend staying here in Vancouver.
