Location is the one pro. The cons I encountered were mold, a pervasive cat pee smell, cockroaches, rats, dirty sheets and noise from other rooms. I’m not sure the price counts as a plus: when I checked, it was 10% cheaper than the Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre, which has a better location and presumably no mold, cockroaches or rats, and probably gives you fresh sheets. Maybe this could be worth it if you really need to save $20, though I don’t know why you’d stay here instead of sleeping in your car. It seems to make money by baiting and switching, denying refunds and hoping guests can’t be bothered to dispute the charge.

When I arrived, I left a big skid mark in the shared toilet on my floor. There was no brush to clean it, and it was still there four days later when I left. That pretty much sums up this place.

The beds were really comfortable, and the pillows soft and fluffy. They gave us plenty of towels at check-in, and there was a good shared kitchen. Breakfast was very nice. The room was small but very reasonable for the price, with our own clean, modern bathroom. One of the room’s lights was in the hallway, but it wasn’t a big issue.

The location was amazing, and there was parking available, but a pipe or something in the wall beside my bed ran for most of the evening. It was loud and annoying when I was trying to sleep, so I can’t give four stars. The hosts were very friendly and always around whenever I happened to go to reception. The room was comfortable enough, and the washroom was good with a nice shower. Breakfast to go was very basic, but it was breakfast, and the berry and chocolate muffins were divine. I probably should’ve eaten fewer of them.
