The food really surprised me. I've been a fine dining chef for a quarter century, and it was extremely well prepared, with a thoughtfully put together menu. Prices were fair, especially with the lunch coupon at checkout. The bartenders were great, and the service was solid. Pavel in particular always went out of his way and made me smile. The hotel isn't shiny or brand new, and some may find it dated, but I thought the room was charming and just right, with no frills. The views were stunning, and the harbour and park or seawall were an incredibly quick walk away. Check-in staff were unbelievably accommodating, and everyone from arrival to checkout was phenomenal. The location, price, service and attention to detail were hard to beat. It's a great base for seeing downtown Vancouver and the surrounding areas. I'll absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Getting around was easy from this hotel's excellent location. We found the rooms clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere felt welcoming. The staff were professional, friendly and always ready to help. We had a very pleasant stay.

At $100-$150 a night, I think this place is worth it. The location is handy for downtown and Coal Harbour without being on a noisy street. Rooms were fairly quiet and clean, the beds comfortable enough for me with soft sheets, and the shower had good pressure. The restaurant was decent, and you might get a coupon. The gym is huge. It is an older hotel, and the halls and doors show it. My room smelled a little musty when I walked in. The pool looked nice, but the water was murky and a bit cold. I swam anyway and hope it was fine. The hot tub wasn't very hot, and its jets weren't working. Most of the room was quiet, but I could hear the room next door being serviced. There were also some jarring sounds while I was drifting off, which I assume came from the climate control. Every so often it sounded like someone opening a bottle of pop. The shower itself had a good head and pressure, but the bath was shallow, and the tiling was poorly done.

We arrived as a group to find the hotel without power, despite having booked months earlier. Nobody had told us BC hydro might require the power to be shut off during our stay. The guest elevator wasn't running, even though a letter at check-in said otherwise, so everyone had to climb 6-14 flights to rooms spread across different floors. Fortunately, no one in our group had mobility issues. One guest needed power for a medical device and had to be moved to another hotel. The assistant manager said room assignments depended on availability and that reservations could be changed. One room had only one bed even though we'd reserved two. Saying that the room was already “upgraded” to the two-bed room we'd booked was their reason for offering no compensation. The guest with the medical device also got no breakfast because their room had been “upgraded” for the night at the other hotel. Only 5 of the 7 rooms were offered breakfast, and I had to beg for breakfast for five rooms. There was no understanding or flexibility. A hotel that cared about service would have offered everyone breakfast for the trouble of hauling luggage and climbing stairs. The assistant manager stuck to policy instead. Congratulations, over a couple of breakfasts you've lost future business and earned a bad review.
