Hotel du Lac Champlain, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The restaurant and spa were both great, and I liked the rooms’ contemporary European design. I did have to wait about 10 minutes to check out because the administrator was on a call with a customer. The chief administrator walked right past us without helping or paying attention.

Noah Spa was a wonderful thermal experience, which may explain why it costs extra instead of being included with the room. The gym equipment worked well, so be sure to make use of it. Our room was spacious, with a lovely lake view if you looked past the parking lot and busy road. I was disappointed with housekeeping during our couple of days there: they only took out the trash and refilled the coffee pods, without making the bed or changing the sheets. Maybe leaving a tip after the first night would have made a difference? I can see why they chose this little town for the hotel.

We reached the hotel around 11:10 PM after making it clear in advance that we’d arrive after 11. I also called two days earlier and staff assured me someone would be there to help. Instead, the front desk was empty and the doors were locked. We stood outside in the cold for nearly an hour, calling the night phone over and over with no answer. Someone finally picked up close to midnight. It was extremely stressful and unacceptable for a hotel advertising itself as four-star. The staff member who eventually checked us in was unfriendly, which made an already awful night worse. In the morning I told the front desk, and Amy gave me the general manager Stephanie’s email. I contacted them again, but both the hotel and GM ignored my messages. No apology, acknowledgment, or follow-up. For a hotel at this price, that treatment was disappointing. I’m sharing this so future travelers can consider other options. A week later, they’re still ghosting me.

Room quality was top-notch, well above what I expected, and service is key. Everything was great, especially the chef, who was at the top of his art. A chef also needs a well-versed, exquisite team to keep things flowing. Please note the video is with A.I. It was mine alone, the restaurant did not ask for it.
