We spent four days fishing with a couple of friends last month and had a great time. The food was awesome, and the accommodations were just what we want in a fishing lodge. I also chatted with Chris at the dock about fishing and the lodge. Everyone seemed to genuinely enjoy being there, and that came through in the experience. This will be our third visit next year, for sure.

The scenery is unreal, the location is good, and the people are nice. I really want to like this place, but it needs some investment. I like rustic, but at least two docks were underwater, the grounds felt messy and unkempt, and the cabins need care and some updating. The couch was like sitting on a concrete wall, and a few chairs by the fire would help. The boathouse was mostly empty, with no bait much of the time we were there. Since it's on an island, running out of bait is a real problem. There aren't enough guides, and the lodge gave no fishing advice, so plan on having a guide every day. Ours was an hour late, seemed stoned, barely spoke for eight hours, and ran out of bait after four. There were no rods either. They could at least print a paper map with a few spots to try. The food was pretty good. It doesn't need a full rehab, just some capital improvements. We loved the area, but might try somewhere more updated next time.

Corey was a great guide, with plenty of fishing gear on the boat to keep us catching fish all day. He had lots of stories, too, and I’d highly recommend him. We also really enjoyed the food, especially the dinner selection and shore lunch. Hats off to Billy, Pete, and Corey for putting that together. The accommodations were typical for a French River Lodge, but had everything we needed. We had a great time at Chaudiere Fishing Lodge.

The staff made the stay, Riley, Peter, Mallory, and Gabriella were always cheerful and helpful. Bill got us right onto pickerel and put together a five-star shore lunch. Our cabin was tidy and had all the amenities we needed, and the screened porch was a bonus with the mosquitoes around. The four of us had a fantastic time. We rented boats on day two at a very reasonable price, and they worked flawlessly. Sign us up for 2026!

We think we’ve found the lodge that suits us, and we're already looking at coming back next year. Our group of seven was blown away by Chaudiere, especially how friendly and efficient the service was from pickup to drop-off. Riley and Chris were always around, and things were taken care of almost as soon as we asked. Layla, our waitress, was quick, cheerful, and got every order right. The food was delicious, with big portions, and better than you'd expect from an island lodge. We asked about towels, and before we’d even finished dessert, Layla told us they’d been put in our cottage. The cleaning staff did such meticulous work throughout the lodge and cabins, though I’m sorry I didn’t get their names. We hired Pete, aka Pistol Pete, for a day of walleye fishing and caught more than 60 walleye in eight hours with four fishermen. We took a break while Pete and Billy, another guide from Chaudiere, made a fantastic shore lunch for two groups, fresh-caught walleye, fries, and beans. It was absolutely delicious. I tried to get the coating recipe, but no luck. Pete took us to spots he’s tested over the years, supplied the tackle, baited hooks, and netted the fish. You mostly just have to make sure you don’t feed them. He’s an upbeat, charismatic fisherman who clearly loves the sport. You won’t be disappointed hiring guides at chaudiere. Cole, the owner, was a gentleman and runs a great operation. We couldn’t thank him enough when it was time to leave. Thanks again, Cole, from all of us in Tomahawk and KingFisher.
