Sheri made the reservation easy, shared helpful information about the area, and was great during our stay. She even spotted a nearby turtle laying eggs. We had a lovely cabin in a great location, and it was very well equipped. We also got out in the canoe twice, once with a loon joining us. We had such a fun time at Mersey River Chalets, thanks for a great stay.

The boardwalk, sauna, free canoes and kayaks, and all the surrounding nature made this place incredibly peaceful. It really feels like a retreat into nature. Sheri was great about accommodating our family, and we’ll definitely come back.

Bring a book, some good food, and a drink, then settle in and enjoy the quiet. There’s no internet or TV, just nature and its sounds, though the cell service is excellent, so you’re not completely out of touch. It’s a great spot to launch a canoe or kayak, and just right for a peaceful getaway close to nature.

We had a great time canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and looking at the stars in this beautiful, peaceful place. The chalet is separate, which I think would give kids more room to be themselves. The log house, though, isn’t a whole house rental. The property manager lives upstairs and is very sensitive to noise. We have three young kids, and each of the three days they played, he either came down or emailed me to complain that they were too loud. He apologized eventually and gave us a discount the day before we left, but the stay had felt uncomfortable. We didn’t feel welcome, and it seemed like we were always bothering him. The housekeeping area is downstairs, so you’re really renting the second floor of a house, despite it being advertised as a “log house.” It was neat, clean, and comfortable, but some kind of fan in the bedrooms would make a big difference. I’d recommend the property, but not the log house.

The dock made it easy to head out for an early or evening canoe paddle, and our friends especially loved the amazing starry sky from there. We’ve stayed at Mersey River Chalets in different seasons over several years, and this visit was just as enjoyable. Our chalet was comfortable, very clean, and updated, with a well-equipped light housekeeping kitchen. We slept well in the peaceful setting, enjoyed quiet morning coffee on the covered deck, and were sheltered from late afternoon showers during happy hour. It’s a handy base for day trips to Kejimkujik National Park and Annapolis Royal. Management and staff were welcoming and quick to respond to our requests. Poor Wi-Fi doesn’t bother us since we come partly to disconnect for a while. For us, this is one of our favourite nature retreats.
