Siding 16 Lodge

Our hockey team spent the weekend here, and we'd all stay again if the team comes back to Wetaskiwin. The front desk service was outstanding. They did their best to arrange a meeting room and put us in the north building, so the 7-9 year old boys running around wouldn't bother too many people in the main hotel. The pool was a great place for them to burn off energy, though it got very full on Saturday night. Breakfast was the one downside. The protein items were all frozen, and there were only two microwaves to heat eggs, sausage and similar food for 40 people who all had to leave by 7 a.m.

The jacuzzi suite photos on the website are accurate, so there's no need for me to post any. Check them out. We stayed overnight for a weekend show at the local theater, and even with five U11 hockey teams in the hotel, things quieted down at a reasonable time and we rested well. Service was excellent, staff were pleasant, and the rooms were clean. Updates are ongoing, and I'd consider staying again.

The front desk staff were really pleasant, and the beds were comfortable, but breakfast was poorly managed. The counters were dirty and people weren't using tongs for the food, so we just had coffee and paid for breakfast on the road. There were hairs in the towels and dust along the bathroom and main room floor edges. It was very noisy too, with kids running in the halls at 6 a.m. and hitting a ball against the wheelchair ramp outside our room at 9 a.m. I would've liked a thicker blanket. It was very cold overnight, minus 40°C, and minus 30°C during the day.

The quoted rate was ridiculous. My last stay was probably $50 a night cheaper, and this isn't a fancy hotel. It does have a pool and hot tub, but they're a pain to get to if you're not in the main building. When I called to book, I had to repeat everything I asked about. I'm pretty sure English wasn't the woman's first language, and the phone connection was awful, maybe because they use a VOIP system.
