Travelodge by Wyndham Wetaskiwin

The front desk person was friendly, and I liked being able to check in online. The bed and bathroom were clean, though there were old marks from spilled drinks on the wall, and the hallway floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. Breakfast was cereal, yogurt, fruit and toast. For the price, you can't expect much more.

I've stayed at Travelodge locations many times and usually found them reliable, clean and comfortable. This one was nothing like that, despite booking through CAA's travel website and expecting the same standards. There was no elevator, and every room was on the second floor, up 24 steps. The public areas and room looked dingy and not very clean. Light came through all four edges of the room door all night, as if it wasn't mounted properly or had no weather stripping. The bathroom door stuck when pushed shut, possibly from swelling due to poor ventilation, though I could be wrong. Either way, it took two hands and all my strength to pull open. The HVAC was broken, with its cover carefully balanced over the controls, and we couldn't get the temperature we wanted. The draperies were broken and hard to close. We told the desk staff about the problems. They didn't seem surprised or write anything down, just said they'd pass it on. This hotel doesn't meet basic standards and needs a full renovation and staff retraining.

People were screaming in the hallway, and the police had to be called to make them leave. Our room wasn't clean, the bed was broken, the TV didn't work, and the shower wasn't working properly. We wouldn't stay here again.

I wanted to stay here so I could easily go outside to smoke, but there isn't any mobility access and I can't get up the stairs. The place needs wheelchair access, and that's really disappointing when there are almost no other motels in the area. This motel feels neglectful toward the people who want to stay there. I hope they wake up and add something.
