Best Western Gold Rush Inn

I’ve been a platinum Best Western customer for years and stay with them when I can, but I’m very disappointed with the Whitehorse property. Parking was a block and a half down the street, which doesn’t feel acceptable for what this hotel charges. My room wasn’t made up. I had to ask on day two, then left at 9 a.m. on day three and came back at 2:30 to find it still hadn’t been cleaned, though everyone else’s rooms had been done. When I phoned, she put me on hold and I never heard back. The check-in staff weren’t friendly either. They didn’t offer water or a welcome package, which should be automatic. When I asked for water, they said I had to be a member. I told her I was, but she didn’t seem to believe me and reluctantly gave me a bottle. I won’t stay again, and if you’ve booked, I’d reconsider cancelling; there are other hotels in Whitehorse. The key security also seemed over the top. The stairs outside my room lead downstairs and out, but once you start down, you can’t access any other floor because you’re locked out. At the bottom there were empty pill bottles and garbage.

Prabh and Sukh at the front desk were especially friendly and helpful, and made my stay easy and pleasant. The hotel itself was very clean and well cared for, with comfortable rooms and a welcoming feel. I also enjoyed the on-site restaurant, which has great food and a nice range of options. A good place to stay when visiting the Yukon.

The restaurant portions were great and everything was cooked superbly, though the prices nearly stopped my heart. The front desk staff were friendly and knew their stuff. I also really liked the room, especially the great bed, the shower I never wanted to leave, and a TV I could actually operate. Thanks, guys.

It’s in a handy spot along Main Street, with plenty of little souvenir shops, restaurants, and bars nearby. The hotel is nice, and the receptionists were always ready to help with whatever I needed.
