Super 8 by Wyndham Windsor NS

The kids loved the bunk bed hideaway, and the beds were comfortable with fresh sheets. Our room was spotless and laid out well. The pool and slide were a fun way to splash around after the competition, even if they were shallow and on the small side. Breakfast was hot and fresh, good road-trip food for a family, and just what we needed. We wound up at the Super 8 in Windsor because everywhere in the Valley was booked for the Irish Dance competition. I wasn't expecting much, but the place was clean, friendly, and worked well. Cindy on the night shift at the front desk was cheerful and genuinely kind, and every room attendant smiled and said hello. The breakfast attendant seemed to be having a rough morning, but we've all been there. There was some peeling paint by the pool and the carpets have seen better days, but I've stayed in hotels around the world and this place is solid. The price felt odd, like Halifax city rates in Windsor, though we got a bit of a deal. One small thing for management: please pick one lightbulb color for the rooms. The mix of 5000K daylight bulbs and 3000K warm ones feels like a spa arguing with a science lab. The hotel isn't fancy or perfect, but it's honest, clean, and has the little kindnesses that matter on the road.

After a six-hour trip, they wouldn't check in my 12-year-old and her mother, even though the room was paid in full. Their system for the $100 hold wasn't working properly, and they wanted $200 by debit instead. That would have left them short on cash for their two-day trip, and the hotel was going to turn them away.

Never again. In October, it was 283.00$ for a room stuck in the 80s, with stained popcorn-textured walls and nasty stains all over the carpet. The bathroom was cringe-worthy. We've stayed at three other hotels in Nova Scotia this week, all under 170.00$ and clean. Drive a little farther.

The pool was clean and the slide was neat. The room had cobwebs and dried pee beside the toilet, and the fridge didn't work. The front desk employee got frustrated easily, was confusing, and wasn't willing to help us as customers. All things considered, the cost was outrageous.
