The staff didn't seem concerned about guest comfort or keeping things clean. There were bugs all over the bed, and the room felt extremely dirty, more like a homeless shelter than a hotel. I had a very bad stay and would never return or recommend it to anyone.

I booked NEW LODGE, Winnipeg MB directly through hotel.com, and not checking its Google reviews first was a huge mistake. Don't trust the booking photos, please stay away. The place stank and was extremely dirty, with blocked drainage throughout the hotel. The curtains, sheets, and towel were filthy. I strongly believe rooms are being used by one guest and then given to the next without cleaning. The environment felt unsafe, and I became extremely sick after one night. This place seems fit for pigs or farm animals, not people.

There was a $200 deposit, and the room had mold, bedbugs, burned spots on the bedding, peeling wallpaper, and stained mattresses. The floor was sticky and dirty, and the bathroom door had no handle.

At 3 am I woke up with a bedbug crawling on me. When I called the front desk to ask for some of my money back, they said it was past the time to request a refund. My sheets also had some very questionable stains. This place is hell on earth. I honestly think a homeless shelter would be cleaner and smell better. It seems like these people need the money more than I do, and I would never stay here even if my life depended on it. Stay away at all costs.

At about 5 AM, I woke to someone jiggling the locked door handle. Then I saw the biggest roach I've ever seen on the wall just a few feet from the bed. I packed up and left faster than I ever have. Earlier, check-in was later than usual, and the concierge staff tried to charge the $200 damage deposit twice even though it had been paid in advance. The TV didn't work. There were burns all over the bathroom counter, which I can only assume came from substance use, and a strange red stain on the bed had leaked onto the floor without being cleaned. We moved the bedding to the cleaner of the two beds. Neither bed showed signs of bedbugs, and both had mattress protectors. If you have no other option, give it a go. If you care about your health and safety, I'd steer clear.
