The way we were treated added stress to an already exhausting day, and I wouldn’t recommend Quality Inn because of the poor service. My wife had just given birth to our twins, our 4-year-old son was with us, and we had a lot of luggage. We only needed a little extra time to check out while waiting for my brother to come help. I told the front desk agent I was willing to pay extra if needed, but he was rude and impatient instead of understanding. Even after I apologized and explained what was going on, he kept complaining that we were taking too long. With newborns and a young child, I expected basic respect and empathy.

The experience was fine and uneventful, and the large lot fit our U-HAUL+ car trailer. Breakfast was good, with pancakes, waffle makers, porridge, cereal, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, muffins, and other basics. The hotel was clean, had no bugs, and seemed newly renovated, but sound carries badly through the door from the hallway. Based on Google reviews, there seem to be fewer car break-ins here. I paid $225 a night, the most I’ve spent on a budget hotel, and the price hurt. I’m glad we didn’t get bed bugs or have our car broken into like I’ve read about at other Winnipeg hotels. There’s a lot of crime in the city, so visitors should be aware.

NEVER EVER STAY HERE. We found MOUSE TURDS in the bed near the pillow when we woke up, and took them straight to the front desk. The clerk said he had no authority to waive the room charge or offer a deal. We called at 5 when the manager was supposed to be in, left a message, then tried a couple more times and got voicemail. Eventually the front desk lady transferred us through. The manager didn’t even know what had happened. He said we should have told them the night before so they could change the sheets, but we kept explaining we hadn’t seen anything until morning. His best offer was 10% off a future stay. That phone call was crazy. Thank God it isn’t privately owned. We reached corporate and got a free room at any of their hotels, and they’re filing a complaint. Calling Manitoba health tomorrow. So gross, especially with a bar and restaurant downstairs.

I found this place on Pembina Highway when I needed a hotel in a hurry. It has everything you need and more, with clean rooms, a great breakfast, and friendly staff. The free coffee is great too. Fantastic hotel!

The breakfast had lots of choices, including pancakes and waffles you make yourself, plus eggs, bacon, and sausage. If you’re after comfort and basic amenities rather than luxury, I’d absolutely recommend this hotel. There’s a bar and restaurant through the lobby, and a 24 hour Tim Hortons and McDonalds across the street. I don’t know when or if I’ll be back in Winnipeg, but I’ll definitely stay here when I am. I got in at 2:30am after a late flight from Vancouver. I’d accidentally booked my rental for 24 hours earlier than intended, and my first Winnipeg encounter was a grumpy cabby who was annoyed I didn’t pay cash. At check-in I explained the rental mix-up and asked how to get back to the airport later. The clerk suggested I ask the Enterprise Rental location practically across the street about picking up a car there and dropping it at the airport. That saved me time and money. The room was clean and modern, and I liked relaxing on the small couch. The hallway was a bit loud, but I didn’t find that noise carried into the room. It was a step up from my previous hotel in Vancouver. I’d read some reviews that made me expect a different experience, so I was surprised.
