Le Baluchon Eco-Villegiature

The hotel has a lovely setting and location, and the staff were pleasant. The restaurant looked promising too, with a beautiful menu, good ingredients, nice presentation, and a good wine list. But the food was badly executed. My duck starter looked beautiful, yet salt was the only seasoning, and there was so much of it that all I could taste was salt. The lamb main course was no better. Maybe the Chef was out of the kitchen that evening, but the cooking was poor. I'd return to the hotel, just not the restaurant.

We went to La Baluchon after Bicolline's Grande Bataille in early August, and it was the perfect way to unwind after a week of walking 20,000-30,000 steps a day. Honestly, a vacation from the vacation. Book the thermal spa ahead of time so you know you have a spot. We made sure before going to Bicolline. It was a must after the battle, with two outdoor hot tubs, a very cold plunge, a cool waterfall, and a hot sauna, all with beautiful views. We also went horseback riding during the day. There are other activities, but rentals like bikes have limited supplies, so book in advance or get to the rental offices early. For food, there's a fine dining restaurant within walking distance at a reasonable price, though you should reserve. The cafe beside it offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a more casual setting. This was the cherry on top of an excellent vacation. We had no reason to leave the resort. Enjoy your stay!

A wonderful place for a holiday or family time outdoors, with crisp air, snow, walks, views, and GREAT food. We visited in winter and packed in as many activities as we could. There was so much to do, and we loved it.

The room was cozy, the food excellent, and the staff lovely. Service was very good, especially from Monique at reception, and the visit felt unique and authentic. There weren't as many activities as advertised, though we were there in the slower season. We especially enjoyed hiking the beautiful trails by the river.
