Chateau Nova Yellowknife

The rooms were fairly clean and the beds comfortable, and the front desk staff were helpful. But the first-floor hallways were cold and had a distinct smell. The restaurant was below average, and after an aurora watch the water was cold, so don’t plan on showering at night.

Parking was easy, and the location made it convenient to get around Yellowknife. We stayed in an executive king suite at Château Nova Yellowknife. It was quiet, comfortable, very spacious, clean, and well maintained, about what I’d expect from a good 3.5-4 star hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I had no issues during the stay. A pleasant, dependable place to stay if you’re visiting Yellowknife.

Our room had a comfortable bed and was well equipped, with a kitchen and washer/dryer. The airport shuttle was comfortable and on time, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in and checkout were easy. The hotel is close to downtown, Prince of Whales Museum, and Shoppers Drug Mart. Dinner at the restaurant was good, with generous portions and lots of choices. Housekeeping missed some days, and crumbs were visible on the couch and around the living area. Breakfast could be slow; the a la carte choices were limited and portions small, though we preferred that menu to the buffet. Some rooms are a long walk from reception. I’d still recommend the hotel to visitors to Yellowknife, since the good points outweighed those areas to improve.

The staff were superb, and Chateau Nova was much nicer than we’d expected. It was our first trip to Yellowknife, and we’d been a bit nervous about how remote the town was and what the accommodation would be like. The hotel was very well appointed and super comfortable, with a great restaurant and a good number of vegetarian options.
