Quality Inn & Suites Yellowknife

The location was convenient, with places to eat nearby. But we could hear people talking and opening doors outside our room. The worst part was seeing people who seemed homeless sitting on the lobby sofa. One day, hotel customers ended up standing outside in the freezing cold.

The airport shuttle was great, and the front desk team were generally nice. The location is good, though there were lots of people harassing others outside. The big TV was nice, but the shower didn’t work well, the temperature control didn’t work, and the door wouldn’t close on its own. You have to slam it shut.

There really should be more places to sit in the lobby. In the evening it got crowded with guests waiting to be picked up for events, and the two couches only seat about six people. We got to our room around 2:00 AM and found there was no hot water for showers. The front desk said everyone had used it up and we would have to wait for it to heat again. I’d never heard of that happening before.

I was only there for one business night, thankfully. Parking was a real problem, and although the rooms are non-smoking, mine still smelled like it had once been a smoking room. There were people hanging around outside and a fistfight in the street where I had to park. The locals were interesting, I guess. I’m sure there are better options in town, so I’d spend a little more and try somewhere else.
