Hôtel Cristal

We'd happily stay here again. The restaurant food was fresh, well prepared, and delicious, and it's an easy walk to the cable cars and village. The old part of the village is well worth seeing. The hotel has a nice feel and friendly staff. The rooms have a bit of a vintage look, but they're clean and tidy, and the shower pressure is excellent.

We had a group of 11 and were meant to leave early for a big hike the next morning, but a rock event right outside our balcony ran on Friday night. The music stopped before midnight, though cleanup continued, and we could hear tables and chairs being moved before 7 am. I got only an hour of sleep. The hotel emailed us about the event on Monday, too late to cancel under the 14-day cancellation policy. There was no fan, so we had to leave the balcony door open. The hotel is on the road to the Moiry dam, and cars accelerating past can be heard from early morning, especially on weekends. Breakfast was acceptable. The room and toilet were very clean, but the pillow was far too soft to give any support. On the plus side, the gondola and village center are under a five-minute walk away, and there's enough parking. I wouldn't come back.

The restaurant really won us over. It doesn't feel like a cheap, forgettable hotel restaurant. The food has lots of subtle details, all nicely balanced, with hints of Asian cooking, including Thai dishes, alongside local influences. Our room was cozy and had a lovely mountain view, and the gondola is about a five-minute walk away. The staff were friendly and quick to respond. The atmosphere feels intimate and bracing, and there's even a real fireplace in the lobby by the entrance. We had a delightful stay and would recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were warm and welcoming, and we were upgraded to a superior room. It was spacious, comfortable, spotless, and had a nice balcony; the blankets were soft and warm. Breakfast didn't have much choice, but everything was fresh and good. We also had dinner at the nearby pizzeria Arlequin, which was nice. Since we stayed two nights in a row, we received Valais vouchers worth 100 CHF to use during our stay in Valais. Amazing!
